Sediment Survey: Volunteer Resources

How to participate? It’s super easy!

🗓 Event Date: Saturday 18th October

📍Where:

  • Grafton – South Grafton Ex-Services Club

  • Tabulam – Community Hall

  • Grafton and Tabulam serve as hubs for different areas of the catchment (see the map below for details).

Choose a location:

  • When you enrol online, you may select a preferred part of the catchment.

  • We’ll do our best to match your preference to a sample location on the day.

On the day:

  • Arrive in the morning with your team at your chosen hub (Grafton or Tabulam).

  • Register and attend induction session where you will:

    • Receive your sampling location.

    • Get full instructions.

    • Be provided with equipment.

Sampling process:

  • Your team will:

    • Travel to your assigned site.

    • Collect 1–2 kg of dry, sandy river sediment in a small provided container.

    • Return all samples by Sunday 19th October, 12 noon.

Preparing for the weekend

👥Form a Team:

  • Minimum team size is two adults of 25 years and older. 

  • There is no upper limit on team size.

  • If your team includes anyone under 25, you must have at least two adults aged 25+.

🧭Choose a Team leader:

  • Your Team Leader will act as the main contact person for your group.

🎥Complete the training:

  • All team members should watch the two, short, online training videos (see below).

What to bring….

  • A vehicle – car / AWD / 4WD

  • Suitable outdoor clothing – e.g. hat / sunscreen, sensible footwear

  • A smartphone (charged) with these two apps:

    • Google maps app

    • Emergency plus app

  • Smiles 😊
